New York City’s Aimé Leon Dore and Boston’s New Balance have quickly become one of the top teams in sneaker collaborations. Since they started working together in 2019, both brands have grown in popularity, especially with the revival of the NB 550.


The smartwatch pays tribute to the iconic NB 550, drawing inspiration from its logo and design, while seamlessly blending the aesthetic and spirit of the Aimé Leon Dore brand.

After examining the brand's most popular sneaker, I knew I wanted to incorporate its iconic logo into the smartwatch design. I decided to feature it prominently on the metal band/clasp. Here, I experiment with the logo's form, redesigning it to complement the overall shape of the watch.

When designing the UI for the smartwatch, ideations were made for a clock, music and running. Aesthetics were taken into consideration, deeming what is recognizable to the brand. Light lines, grids and other icons are utilized to enforce the ALD X NB branding in the UI for the smartwatch.
